  • Meaning: To refer to something that is extremely white.
  • Use In A Sentence: Wow Grandma is looking old. Her hair is as white as snow.

2. To Do A Snow Job On Someone

  • Meaning: To persuade someone by lying to them; to deceive.
  • Use In A Sentence: The young boy thought he did a snow job on his mom by telling her he was sick, but his mom knew the truth.

3. To Have Snow On The Mountain

  • Meaning: To have white hair due to aging.
  • Use In A Sentence: Even though he may have a little snow on the mountain, he still knows a thing or two about sports.

4. To Be Pure As The Driven Snow

  • Meaning: Used to describe a person who is morally chaste or pure.
  • Use In A Sentence: I was surprised to hear that David cheated on the test. I always thought he was pure as the driven snow.

5. To Snow One Under With Something

  • Meaning: To burden someone with too much work. To overwhelm someone.
  • Use In A Sentence: I am tired, but Tom keeps snowing me under with all this work that he doesn’t want to do.

  • Meaning: To have white hair due to aging.

7. Snowbird

  • Meaning: A person who goes to a warmer climate during the cold winter months.
  • Use In A Sentence: My father-in-law told me that when he retires he is going to be a snowbird. He is planning on spending 6 months in Maine and 6 months in Florida.

8. To Be Snowed Out

  • Meaning: When an event is canceled or postponed due to a lot of snow.
  • Use In A Sentence: Students were happy to learn that because of the blizzard school with be snowed out tomorrow.

9. Snow Bunny

  • Meaning: a person who is learning how to ski.
  • Use In A Sentence: I was surprised to see so many snow bunnies on the slopes today. I thought the cold weather would have discouraged them from coming out.

10. To Roast Snow In A Furnace

  • Meaning: to attempt to do something that is very difficult, impossible or futile.
  • Use In A Sentence: You might as well roast snow in the furnace. He is not going to change his mind. Once he has made a decision, the decision is final.

11. To Be Snowed In

  • Meaning: To not be able to leave the house due to too much snow. To be trapped inside because of too much snow.
  • Use In A Sentence: The blizzard dropped so much snow, we were snowed in for 5 days.

12. To Snowball Into Something

  • Meaning: When a situation starts off as a small problem, but suddenly grow to a much bigger problem. Usually, one that is difficult to manage. To develop quickly into something bigger.
  • Use In A Sentence: You need to fix the problem fast. If more people find out this could snowball into a huge problem.
