What Does The Wait Is Over Mean? We Have The Answer

October 2, 2022 by Wes

Today, we are going to look at the meaning of the popular idiom: The Wait Is Over. Let’s take a look at what it means and some example sentences.

What Does The Wait Is Over Mean?

When you hear someone say that the wait is over, it simply means that a person no longer has to wait for something. In other words, they have received what they were waiting for, and thus there is no longer a need to wait. It usually does imply waiting for a long time. It is usually not used to refer to waiting for a short amount of time.

To better understand this idiom, let’s take a look at some example sentences:

“After waiting nearly 2 weeks for her test results, the wait is finally over. She was happy to find out that the cancer was gone.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, the wait is over. The engineers have fixed the problem and we have been given the green light to continue the ride. Thank you for your patience”

“Joe was itching to get back home, but the wait was finally over. His airplane landed and he should be home within the hour.”

“Apple users will be happy to know that the wait is over. The long-anticipated new iPhone is finally here!”

“The wait is over. After nearly 1 year of construction, the factory finally opened its doors. They are now ready to take orders.”

“Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to tell you that the wait is over. Our flying car is now available for purchase online.”

“After waiting for 3 years, the wait is finally over. Today is the day you can watch Top Gun 3 in theaters around the world.”

“The wait is over. Tomorrow is the day that little Jeffery will go to Disneyland for the first time. He is so excited!”

“I can’t believe the wait is over. Tomorrow is the big day! I am nervous.”
